The Story Behind Imagine Church
God is not safe or boring.
Just read the Bible – the Christian life is supposed to be exciting, filled with adventure and purpose! After talking to some friends who didn’t go to church, I realized that a lot of people like God and the Bible – they’re just not crazy about the church and a lot of the people who go there.
So Lisa and I started to dream. We dreamed about a church that people would want to go to. We dreamed of church that would reflect the daring, creative, exciting God you read about in the Bible. Somewhere along the way, God said, “You want excitement and adventure? Pack your bags and your family, sell your house and go make this dream happen!” (Well, in so many words)
So, after some searching and a bit of prayer, we stepped out in faith and landed in Westfield, Indiana. It was slow and a little lonely at first, but little by little we made friends and started becoming part of the community.
Imagine Church Launch Team – September 2011
Over many conversations, the supernatural powers of good coffee and food shared with new friends, our dreams for this new church became contagious and excitement began to build! Some people even packed up and moved here themselves to be a part.
Over the Summer of 2011 we formed and grew our “Launch Team” to prepare for our public launch. After much anticipation, over 200 people showed up on October 23rd for our Grand Opening service!
The story is still being written.
It’s a page-turner…we can’t wait to see what happens next!
